Our mission

“Providing a free, fresh and locally-sourced food delivery service to low-income families.”

Our vision

To breakdown every single barrier preventing low-income households from eating three meals a day.

Charitable purpose

To reduce the long-term demand for health care services.

It wasn't just about giving free food; it was about their wellbeing

We know it costs less to feed people than it does to treat them for chronic diseases. The Fresh Food Weekly program achieved household food security by creating food access for vulnerable population groups in Barrie and Innisfil, Ontario.

Bold Ideas Turned into Reality

Meal box program

Fresh Food Weekly addressed chronic disease by using a free nutrition-based intervention program to deliver fresh food on a biweekly basis.

We raised funds to buy fresh and locally-sourced food at wholesale, then packed this food into meal boxes and delivered these meal boxes to the front doorsteps of the same low-income families, between June 2022 and January 2024. For Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, we raised extra funds to give one-time meal boxes to additional  low-income families as well.

Sourced right from the farm

We sourced our food directly from local farmers and food businesses.

Delivering at Scale

When delivery goes right

In order to properly deliver thousands of pounds of fresh food to hundreds of people every other week, we needed a lot of delivery bags and boxes. Luckily, our community is filled with generous donors who provided our program with everything we needed.
